Warzone Wednesday – Week 9 Preview (CANCELLED)
As week 9 of Warzone Wednesday starts tonight, we take a look at the teams competing, the favourites, and the format.
The weekly tournament series run by YouTuber Keemstar has gained a lot of traction over the past 8 weeks. Three time winner Vikkstar123 had 70,000 concurrent viewers during their winners finals match last week.
The team to look out for this week has to be Vikkstar123 and WarsZ yet again. Last time we looked at Warzone Wednesday it was JoshOG and Diegosauras who stole the headlines. However, the British duo of Vikk and WarsZ have taken Warzone Wednesday by storm. Winning the last three tournaments, bagging a nice $60,000 between them in the process.
At this moment in time, Vikk and WarsZ seem unbeatable, but there’s a few new teams playing for the first time this week who are looking to stop their fourth win in a row.
The Chicago Huntsmen’s Seth ‘Scump’ Abner and NRG Content Creator Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards are competing in this week’s Warzone Wednesday. Scump’s attendance was announced on twitter, gaining hype for this week’s tournament with many fans speculating that he would be the one to take down the seemingly unstoppable brits.
Along with this new team, The London Royal Raven’s Matthew ‘Skrapz’ Marshall will be teaming up with Warzone Streamer and Syndicate Sunday’s winner Jukeyz. Jukeyz currently holds the squads world kill record and will be a massive threat to the rest of the teams competing.
Fans seem to be confused by the format of the Warzone Wednesday tournaments, but we’ve got you covered, so here’s a quick rundown: 16 teams enter the tournament, they’re paired up and 2 sets of duos go into a squads match, playing 2 games and whichever team gets the most total eliminations in those 2 games win. If you lose match one, you’re out!
Following this the final 8 teams are placed into a double elimination bracket, so if you lose a match, you’re not out and you get another chance. However, if you reach the Grand Finals, you’ll have to win 2 matches to win the tournament. This means there is an advantage to winning all your games, as you get a lifeline in the grand finals. The games are seeded, meaning that the higher seed gets to host game one, and the lower host game two. This ensures that it is fair for players overseas as they get to play on their home connection.
Here’s a list of the teams competing this week:
- Bobbypoff & Tommey
- Symfuhny & HusKerrs
- Vikkstar123 & ItzWarsZ
- KYR SP33DY & SideArms
- DougisRaw & TeePee
- NICKMERCS & Swagg
- Aydan & Crimsix
- Trainwreck & FeLo
- Tourva & Censor
- Crowder & CourageJD
- King Richard & Clayster
- NoahJ456 & Merk
- Scump & Hitch
- Rudy Gobert & Wuskin
- Nadeshot & Cloakzy
- Speros & Babydillster
Although Skrapz & Jukeyz are the favourites, with Midnite placing them at 3.55 to win. I think that until they’re beaten, they’re the best in the game and we could be seeing 4 in a row for Vikkstar123 & Its_WarsZ. So I’m backing them to take the victory this week.
Warzone Wednesday kicks off at 4 p.m. EST today, and lasts around 7 hours. So get your popcorn, put on your favourite competitors or the official stream and watch the chaos unfold!
